Free for Windows 10 & 11
The two apps that work when nothing else does.
A till that keeps selling through a dead connection, and a full set of books that computes its own statements on your machine. Both native Windows apps, both free to download, both keeping your data on your own computer.
One-click installers · They update themselves · If SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway
SBB Accountant · v0.12.0
Your whole set of books. On your own computer.
Not a viewer, and not a sync of somebody else's numbers. A complete copy of your general ledger that computes its own trial balance, profit & loss and balance sheet on the machine — with the network unplugged, in whatever currency you keep.
Every posting, with the balance after it.
The column a ledger exists for. What the balance was on the 14th, who made each entry, and which till it moved — on any page, in either order.
- A running balanceComputed chronologically across the whole account, so page two continues page one instead of restarting.
- Who made itEvery posting carries the person who recorded it — on screen and in every export.
- One till at a timeAn account holding several drawers or wallets narrows to just one, so you can see the till and not the total.
- Nothing silently cut offLong accounts page properly and always state how many postings there really are.
SBB Desktop · v0.31.0
The till is the books.
Every sale reaches your ledger the second it is paid — no end-of-day export, no re-typing. And when the internet goes, it keeps taking money and catches up later.
Run the whole night on one screen.
Open a tab per table, keep adding through the evening, fire the order to the kitchen and bar, then split the bill however they ask.
Questions
What people ask before installing
Yes, and that is the point of them. SBB Desktop keeps taking sales, printing receipts and checking stock with the network unplugged, then syncs everything when the connection returns. SBB Accountant holds a full copy of your general ledger on the computer and computes the trial balance, profit & loss and balance sheet locally — those statements are not fetched from a server, so they work on a plane.
Windows SmartScreen warns about any installer it has not seen many times before, which includes ours. Choose More info, then Run anyway. The installer is the exact file built by our public build pipeline and published on our downloads page.
Both, deliberately. Your books live in your SBB account, and the desktop apps keep an encrypted copy on the machine so they work offline. Signing out of SBB Accountant removes that local copy from the computer.
Only through a working paper you review first. The app is read-mostly by design: it downloads your ledger and computes statements from it, and the one thing it writes — adjustments from a working paper or a bank reconciliation — is shown to you line by line before anything is posted, and goes through the same rules as the web app, including locked periods.
No. SBB Accountant lists every set of books you have access to, and you switch between them from the sidebar. Businesses already downloaded open straight away with no connection needed, and switching on the desktop does not change which business your browser is showing.
Yes, at the counter, and the money goes to your own MTN or Airtel wallet rather than through us. The cashier requests the payment from the till, the customer approves it on their phone, and the sale is booked the moment it is confirmed.
Both apps are free to download and are included with your SBB account. Every new business starts on the top plan free for 90 days with no credit card, after which you choose a plan or stay on the free Starter plan.
No. Both apps check for updates on their own and install them when you close the app, so a till in a shop does not need someone to maintain it.
Not yet — Windows 10 and 11 today, with macOS and Linux planned. The web app works on any machine with a browser in the meantime, including offline for day-to-day use.
Any. Both apps hold every posting in the currency it was made in and convert at the rate recorded on that transaction, so a closed month never moves when today's rate does. Zero-decimal currencies such as UGX and RWF are handled correctly rather than being treated as if they had cents.
Start on the web. Add the apps when you need them.
Both apps read the same books as the web app, so nothing has to be set up twice.
